February 22nd Grooming Report
Greetings from Norway!
Thanks to Coach Luna for sending some great images from Gjøvik, Norway. Above she is pictured with Lena Poduska and Nate Streubel who are representing the USA at the Norwegian Junior Nationals.
Coach Luna reports that conditions have varied from cold and clear to foggy and wet. Results from Norway can be viewed here.
Also today, racing is happening to the west in Sun Valley at the third and final IMD Junior National Qualifier. Results are available at the race website.
Back here at Trail Creek it is another lovely day. Stable temperatures yesterday and light ski traffic barely touched the tracks. Today’s Husky grooming began as usual, however a hiccup developed in the first hour when one of the hydraulic hoses developed a leak. Diagnostic analysis revealed that it is a pretty simple repair and hopefully will be up and running shortly. The Ginzu would not have improved the situation today so no additional grooming happened. The route today was to Grunt, Woolsey Woods, Outward Bound, Lower Homesite, cutting to Shades of Gray, to lower Nosebleed, Animal Farm, back to Moose Loop, and onto lower Armin’s when the leak was discovered.
However skiing still looks good today even where grooming did not happen. Precipitation enters the forecast tomorrow with warm temps and rain and snow forecast. Report time temperature is 21º.
Groomer’s choice for today is the East Fields.
