February 22nd Grooming Report
A Freshly Groomed Trail?!
You might never guess, but minutes before this picture was taken, a grooming pass was made through the East Field trail pictured above. Blizzard is perhaps a word that would describe what is happening today at Trail Creek. The most interesting phenomenon of our most recent weather is that some very large drifts (3 feet +) have formed in a few places around the fields.
Never to fear, skiing is still an option today. As grooming was wrapping up the sun was putting in more of an appearance and even though swirling snow gusts as pictured below were still storming across the landscape, it did feel like things were calming a bit.
Most of today’ grooming was rolling in the fields to allow our nearly 200 student athletes the ability to disperse throughout the trail network. All woods trails are actually in pretty good shape with no fresh tree falls reported. As of 11 AM it was also relatively easy to make it from the cabin to the woods.
Yes, the weather has been a bit wild today, but you can still find places to ski.
If all goes according to plan, the Pisten Bully will be returning to Trail Creek around 11:30 tomorrow. This will most likely lead to no grooming happening until that time, but extensive grooming mid-day.
Groomer’s choice for today is to head to the woods.
