February 22nd Grooming Report
Breezy But Beautiful
State Championships are coming up fast and trails are rapidly being groomed to accommodate them. It’s quite windy out at Trail Creek today, with significant gusting and drifting, but even so, conditions have come together to be quite beautiful. Yesterday’s snow has combined with last night’s cold temperatures to be surprisingly cooperative, and many trails are in significantly better shape than they often are after a big wave of snow like this.
Today’s grooming was an offset pass of the skate course to clean up leftover heavy snow, and a double pass of pretty much everything else, as well as grooming on the Stadium, Lollipopper Land, and Skyview. Skyview was a bit rough and quite breezy, so may need some fine tuning over the next few days, but at least it’s skiable now. Drifting was erasing many of the classic tracks fairly rapidly as well, but skate tracks seemed to be holding up. Current plans for grooming are an early grooming tomorrow morning before the race inspection, and then switching to evening skiing that night and the ensuing nights until Saturday, to make sure the race course is in as good of shape as possible.
Groomer’s Choice is any trail out of the wind!
