February 20th Grooming Report

Racing i Norge! (Racing in Norway!)

Coach Luna, Lena Poduska, and Nate Streubel most surely have been hearing a lot of Norwegian for the past few days as they are participating in the Norwegian Junior Nationals in Gjøvik, Norway.  Racing began today and while Lena had the day off, Nate did exceptionally well considering he is racing against much older skiers.  The image above is a map of the course they raced today, all the course information is available on the Vind Nordic site and the race results are posted on this website.  In case you don’t read Norwegian, you can usually right click when in your browser and a translate option will pop up.

While little Norwegian has been heard around Trail Creek for several days, there is lots of skiing going on here today.  The weather is almost beginning to hint of spring with a report time temperature of 35º and that certain fresh smell that says change is just around the corner.  The Husky was out again this morning, beginning the day with a journey through the woods.  Most classic tracks were reset on this pass and conditions have turned very nice with the recent stable weather.  The fields then received attention with multiple passes and fresh classic tracks everywhere.  The Nordic X course and inner close field loops also received some attention.

Forty four JHSC racers are heading to Sun Valley for the third and final junior national qualifier tomorrow so Friday ski pressure will be a bit on the light side.

Groomer’s choice for today is Moose Loop.
