February 18th Grooming Report

Wildlife Weekend

There were some great wildlife sightings this morning! Our resident baby bull moose was spotted taking a nap in Woolsey Woods; the Husky gave him a nice chase before he finally decided not to follow the Prometheus School of Running Away From Things and moved sideways about 20 feet to let me pass. Shortly afterwards, a herd of elk were encountered, who were a bit smarter and quickly moved out of the way! While elk are somewhat commonplace in Jackson, with the Refuge right next door, they are quite a rarity elsewhere, and always a fun sight to see, so poke through Outward Bound for a chance at a sighting.

Today’s grooming was a best-line pass across most trails, with double passes on Animal Farm, Black Hole/Boiler, and Olympic. Thanks to a slight inversion, the snow was grooming particularly nicely this morning, and some of the trails had nigh-perfect corduroy; be sure to take advantage before the snowstorm hits tonight!

Groomer’s choice is Black Hole/Boiler.
