February 13th Grooming Report
Detouring Devos!
Thanks to Coach Kaya for sending in this fantastic recent image of a bunch of Devos making their own trail at Trail Creek. Take a perfect blue sky, lots of great snow, and a bunch of energetic young skiers, and wonderful trails happen!
Whether they’re your own or the ones that the Husky set, there is plenty of opportunity to ski on some great trails today at Trail Creek. In case you haven’t heard, the Moose Chase is on this Saturday and today’s grooming focused mainly on the 10 K course. Most all of the course had an initial pass with a classic track, followed by an additional skate only pass.
In addition to the 10 K (and 20K) course, all the shorter section (1,2,3, and 5K) connectors were groomed as well today. The Nordic X course got a workout and a little other grooming happened around the fields for this afternoon’s practice sessions . Trails that weren’t groomed are still skiing nicely; skiing is nice pretty much everywhere.
A stellar jay has been hanging around the cabin lately. It looks like we have a major storm headed our way. After -20º at the cabin this morning, we’re looking at much warmer temps and around a foot and a half of snow in the next few days. The forecast for start time of the Moose Chase looks quite nice with the snow stopping and a little bit of sun, light breezes, and a temperature of 25ºF.
Groomer’s choice for today is the Moose Chase course.
