December 31st Grooming Report
New Years Eve Storm!
Another big dump is just around the corner here at Trail Creek. While snow forecasts have been varying a bit, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see another foot of the lovely white stuff over the next few days. As of 10 AM there is already some really light snow calmly drifting towards the trails with the temperature still on the chilly side at -18ºC/-3ºF.
The images above are a couple more good ones from last Saturday’s Betty Woolsey race. Many more good images will be happening again next Saturday January 4th here at Trail Creek for the Sandbag Freestyle race starting at 10:30 AM. The general course will be a 10 K race with the map being posted tomorrow if all goes according to plan. As of report time today there is still flexibility in the course layout so if you have any wild ideas or desires about where you would like to race, email the grooming department. Don’t forget about the JH Nordic Alliance’s 4th Annual Free Ski, Fat Bike, & Snowshoe Day on Sunday as well.
It seems as if the moose have been moving in over the last couple of days with 5 confirmed sightings during this morning’s grooming. Two were actually sleeping near the cabin with the other scattered about. Don’t forget to give them the right of way as you are enjoying their presence.
Today’s grooming was Pisten Bully best line skate grooming of nearly every trail with a few fresh classic tracks here and there. The heavy dusting of snow we have received so far has done a nice job of freshening the tracks, making skiing quite nice wherever you go or whatever your technique.
Groomer’s choice for today is Armin’s.
