December 19th Grooming Report
Faceplant Returns!
The picture above is the cockpit view as the Husky is posed to plunge down Faceplant for the first time of the year. The tracks ahead show that our youth skiers have been doing a fantastic job putting in the initial set of the famous run; the image below shows that the Husky handled it with ease, one more notch in the total grooming picture at Trail Creek for the year.
Another notch was set today as well with first of the season classic tracks in much of the Black Hole area in preparation for Coach Luna’s training session this afternoon. Beyond that most everything recently groomed received another pass with the Husky today. One final new item was double classic tracks in some of the Close Field trails.
We’re looking at a few warm days then perhaps an inch of snow over the weekend with maybe a half foot around Christmas time, with the weak December sun the snow might get a wee bit crusty but should hold up well. The skiing is still quite nice today although you will find a few voids in the snow as it has firmed a lot and is still too thin for aggressive tilling.
Practice skier numbers will be relatively light for the rest of the week as many of the IMD racers are in Steamboat Springs, Colorado participating at an optional skiing event. If you would like to follow their progress Friday and Saturday, all the information is on this link.
Groomer’s choice for today is Animal Farm.
