December 16th Grooming Report--Thanks and the Husky is Free!

December 16th Grooming Report

Thanks and the Husky is Free!

Thanks so much for all the coaches, racers, and especially volunteers that came together over the weekend to put on a fantastic race where nearly 400 racers from a huge swath of the West were able to get a little early season skiing under their belts.  It is truly amazing what our Nordic community can pull together and do!

It’s always amazing how in a few short hours, all the fencing, v-boards, timing equipment, etc. just go away and it’s nothing but quiet old Trail Creek.  Early this morning the Husky ventured onto those quiet lovely trails and made its most extensive journey of the year so far.  Most everything got a single skate pass with a few exceptions; those exceptions being Cle’s Climb/Faceplant, part of Shades of Gray, and the East Fields.  The Close Field perimeter trail received a classic track while most of the rest of the trails are waiting for substantial additional snow.  Conditions are obviously a little soft yet, but will get nothing but better as the week progresses.

Looking ahead this week, today should be a quiet day with all teams except the Devos getting a much earned rest day after the busy weekend of racing.  Looking at snow this week, another round is coming our way later in the day with maybe 10 inches dropping before clearing out later in the week.  As of report time there was light snowfall, calm conditions, and 24ºF.

Groomer’s choice for today is to explore the new, if slightly soft, grooming in the woods.
