December 12th Grooming Report
Course Inspection Day!
We’re on the cusp of an epic weekend of racing here today at Trail Creek. Throughout the day teams from all around the region will be arriving to inspect the course for the three days of racing ahead. While a couple of extra feet of snow would definitely have been appreciated, a huge number of staff and volunteers have been working hard to make the snow that we do have work really hard and provide us with what we need to have a great racing weekend; thanks to all that have helped.
If you would like to volunteer to help with the races, the latest word was that positions were still available, check out this link if you would like to volunteer. Speaking of links, there is still time for citizens to register for the Betty Woolsey on Saturday; registration will close Friday evening at this link. Due to the current snow conditions, this year’s 10K course will be four laps in the Close Field of the course below. Because of the lack of snow, the event will be freestyle this year. You are welcome to bring your classic skis, however we will not be able to put in a classic track.
Today’s grooming was a mixed bag of working on the race course last night followed by a best line Ginzu pass through most of the woods this morning. None of the racing goes into the woods so skiers not racing will be able to ski in the woods over the weekend. Conditions continue to be a bit rustic, but skiers have been able to find plenty of joy, making tracks on those rustic trails in recent days.
Grooming will focus on the race course over the weekend, on the weather front, it is looking like six inches is on the way for Sunday which will be an awesome thing, and on the wildlife front, a probably new this year, quite timid fox was spotted on Cle’s Climb this morning.
Groomer’s choice for today is for our Nordic Community to put on a great race!
