Achieving Balance

At JHSC, we hope the summer months are a time for our student-athletes' renewal and relaxation, balanced with fun activities with family. As I run into JHSC kids around town—working, training off-season for snow- or other sports, or just hanging out with friends and enjoying the People's Market, live music, and other events—I am grateful that they have this time of a lighter school load or well-deserved break from the rigor of the academic year. As many of you gear up in summer with dryland training and camps, I hope you all take time to rest and recover, soak in the great weather, and enjoy other sports and activities that balance your winter training.

This article from TrueSport—an organization that partners with many local sports Clubs and governing bodies, including US Ski & Snowboard—reminds us of the importance of balance to avoid burnout and get that much-needed recharge we all need!

Enjoy this final month before we gear up for school!

Academic Support Program: New for 22/23 Season

JHSC believes strongly in supporting our athletes in the academic path that best fits their goals and needs.

For that reason, beginning in 22/23, SAS will offer a weekday Academic Support Program during the academic year to provide student-athletes who are enrolled in full-time online school programs the option of an in-person classroom environment. During these morning sessions, the Student-Athlete Support Director provides academic support as needed for remote learners; instructs in strategies for effective compartmentalization and time management; and facilitates learning of important executive functioning skills including verbal communication, study and exam preparation, and note-taking.

Sessions will be held on site at the JHSC offices and follow the TCSD Annual Calendar.

  • Fall/Spring: Tuesday–Thursday, 8:45-11:45 AM

  • Winter Season (Nov. 1-Mar. 24): Tuesday–Friday, 8:45-11:45 AM

Summer Credit Completion Deadlines

For those enrolled in APEX or BYU Independent Study courses this summer, please remember that the deadline for JHHS to receive your transcript is August 26.

COMMUNICATE with the teacher of your course to let them know this deadline; in most cases, you will need to have all coursework, final exam, and projects compeleted by August 19 in order for a final grade to be determined.
