Freeride August Newsletter

Utah Olympic Park

We recently returned from a three-day camp to train on the Airbag, water ramps, and trampolines at the Utah Olympic Park and the Center of Excellence in Park City.  It was an incredible opportunity for the Freeride Program athletes to train on these world class facilities  and everyone made great progress while there.  Everyone agreed that another trip would be valuable so we have scheduled a return on September 21-23.  To register for the net trip and more information can be found here. More photos and Videos from our amazing trip here.

Wild West Skateboard Contest Series

Our fifth event takes place this Saturday in the Jackson Skatepark.  There will be a huge raffle, incredibly fancy footwork, a benefit barbeque, and lots of free high-5's!  More info here.

Program updates:

With limited Terrain Park facilities and the loss of our home halfpipe, we are planning use neighboring facilities and have arrived at a handful of additional training opportunities.  These trips would serve as a crucial component to our home training as we have limited access to terrain parks during the early season.  Those who are interested in these additional training trips should plan to purchase the Epic Pass (5-12 years old- $339, 13-18 years old- $519) before the September 4th Discount Deadline as it will significantly reduce your travel fees.

We are also working to better utilize Grand Targhee as a viable training venue.  Targhee boasts an earlier start date and later close date than other resorts in our region.  Although no details are finalized, there is a likely possibility that we will be hosting a USASA Slopestyle there this February.  If that is the case, we will be making efforts to train over there in late January or as soon as there facilities are available.  All this being said, it' worth considering a season pass there as well.  The rates are posted here and the early deadline is September 30.  We are hoping to create a custom price for JHSC families, so stay tuned for details.

Below is a list of additional training open to the Progression Plus and Competition Teams (exceptions made on a case by case basis for Progression athletes).

Please keep in mind that these trips are all dependent upon a minimum of 4 athlete enrollment.  In the event that we have fewer than seven athletes and a mix of skiers and boarders, our Program's plan is to send one coach only.  Any additional coaching requests above the Program plan will increase the costs of the trip expenses.
