I grew up on the North Shore of Massachusetts, and was fortunate enough to have parents that would drive my brother and me up to Vermont to start learning to ski as soon as we could walk. I grew up skiing at Mad River Glen where the abundant natural terrain and lack of snow-making pushed me to develop my ski ability and technique in demanding circumstances. From a young age that place taught me that bad snow does not excuse sloppy skiing, and that with the right outlook, even the worst conditions can produce some of the best days. I love skiing unconditionally, and I have MRG to thank for that. I spent four year at college in Boston, MA where my love of skiing would often result in 8 hours of driving within a 24 hour period just to sleep in my frigid car and hopefully score perfect conditions on Mount Washington or a deep snowfall in Vermont. I know that skiing was a vital component of my early development. It teaches confidence, independence, risk awareness, and produces more smiles and laughter than any other sport I have known. I consider it a privilege to play a role in passing this on to the next generation of skiers!
