Matt Newton

Matt grew up in Syracuse, NY, where he had a love for skiing from day one. He began ski racing at a very young age and loved the competitive side of skiing. At age 13, he was lucky to move to Eden, UT, where he soon transitioned to competing in skicross and freeskiing events. He traveled the West competing in events such as USASA Nationals, USSA Junior Nationals, and USSA Revolution Tour, eventually winning a national championship in the rail jam discipline. While attending the University of Utah, Matt began to focus his skiing on backcountry and big mountain terrain. During this time, he began to coach for the Park City Ski Team and at Woodward Copper. He soon discovered he had a passion for coaching. After spending a season traveling for FWQ events, he moved to Jackson to peruse big backcountry lines. Matt spends his summers mountain biking, climbing, and enjoying the outdoors.
