Lovely Day; Keep on Skiing!
The sun is intense, the snow is still there, and it’s just another great day for a Nordic ski! While the temps forecast to rise to the upper 40’s aren’t doing long term favors to our snow, in the short term, they soften the snow making for some lovely afternoon corn snow adventures. It is actually rather amazing how the snow softens in the afternoon, freezes hard overnight, and then the Husky can grind it back into some pretty good skiing in the morning.
This morning the Husky covered most trails with the exception of the East Fields, Mug’s Meadow, and Cle’s Climb/Faceplant. The weakest trails right now are probably the close woods trails of Homeward and Outward Bound, most of the rest are skiing quite well. East Fields will ski pretty well too this afternoon and will continue to be groomed with the Ginzu or Husky as long as possible, depending on snowfall.
Yesterday’s practice completely shredded the Nordic X course so it was reworked as well today and if you hurry you can give it a shot yourself today before this afternoon’s practice will most likely mutilate it. Multiple passes occurred today in the Close Field, Animal Farm, and Black Hole. A large group of Jackson Hole Land Trust skiers were checking out Trail Creek this morning.
Groomer’s choice for today is Black Hole.

Snowy Cabin Edition!
While the season is far from over, the 2025–2026 Nordic season has been nothing if not bizarre. Although precipitation has remained moderate, we’ve seen an unusual number of warm days for this corner of Wyoming. Despite the late start, we have been blessed with many fantastic days on the snow—and we’re hopeful that streak continues deep into spring.

We’ve posted comparison photos from early and late February; while early February mirrored the record lows of 2018, we have made measurable progress since then. It’s always fascinating to see the year-to-year variance, and we’re still holding out hope for a late-season "about-face" that could rival the legendary snow totals of 2019.

Today’s Husky grooming covered most trails except for Cle’s Climb, Faceplant, and Mug’s Meadow. Most of the woods received a single skate/classic pass while the fields received multiple passes. Initial grooming in the woods came up a bit chunky after recent days of snow and rain, but should ski nicely. By the time grooming moved to the fields, the snow was warm enough to lay down into some lovely corduroy.

Groomer’s choice for today is to enjoy the fantastic sunshine and warm temps in the East Fields.
