Matt Hoffman
Matthew Hoffman is from Minnesota where he has spent the last 10 years of his coaching career in various roles from U14 to FIS leading athletes on the snow and in the gym. He is an experienced head coach with a large strength and conditioning and sport science background. He has guided many athletes, across diverse sports, on pathways to national events and NCAA programs through a holistic coaching approach with athlete experience at the center.
His education includes Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Level 200 Alpine Coach from USSS, Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from St. Olaf College, and various Alpine Officials licensures. He is completing his Masters in Sport Coaching at the University of Denver this coming winter.
Coaching is in Matt’s blood; both of his parents were highly successful horse trainers and coaches in the Arabian horse industry. Matt was sitting on a horse before he could walk or ski. During his undergrad, Matt raced for St. Olaf College in USCSA and his experiences there and his family’s legacy shaped the start of his professional coaching career.
He believes all athletes can learn and thrive even if they don’t always believe that themselves. Helping build constructive and enjoyable competitive environments are where he puts much of his focus into training plans and strength and conditioning programs. Matt doesn’t shy from the fact that alpine ski racing can be brutal, but the joy of flying down a mountain and spending time with good people at races is always worth it.
Matt is looking forward to embracing the Jackson community and Wyoming culture. If anyone needs a skijoring partner, he’s volunteering to ride or ski!
