July Freeride Newsletter

June Re-cap

Finally! Summer is here in full swing, and what a beautiful week it’s been! Freeride is back in the swing of things with Skate Camps, Bike Team and our 4th annual summer trip to Woodward Copper!

Woodward Copper:

Woodward Copper is a world class training facility for skiers and snowboarders located in Copper Mountain, CO. JHSC Freeride has been attending camp for the last 4 years running for some summer-time fun in the sun. Woodward Copper has trampolines, an on snow terrain park, an incredible skatepark and lots of fun activities for the kids to enjoy between sessions on the mountain.

"Last week, we had athletes of all ages attend a week-long camp at Woodward Copper. Copper has some of the best summer training facilities in the country and we were lucky enough to take advantage of all the camp has to offer. We had several athletes learn new tricks and skills including a few athletes land their first Cork 720’s. It was an amazing experience and we hope to continue going to Woodward for many years to come!” - Coach Matt

Skate Camps:

JHSC skate camps started off this past week. Coaches Toby Koekkoek and Stefan Merriam

Our skateboard camps are a great way for local children to dip their toes into a new hobby and sport. While the days are long, we break them up with some local exploration and swimming trips. Whether your child is looking to roll around for the first time or needs someone to redirect their chaos, there is something for all skill levels in our camps. We just finished up our first week of skateboard programming and we couldn't have asked for a better group of kids. In just a couple short days the children have gained so much confidence on their boards and are eager to show their friends and families their newfound joy. There are still spaces available in our camps, please help our recruiting staff by spreading the word!” - Skate Camp Coordinator, Stefan Merriam
