Kim Havell is mountain guide for EXUM Mountain Guides and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Alpine Guides, and for Ice Axe Expeditions internationally. She began her career as an alpine ski coach in Telluride, CO, and then gradually transitioned into climbing and ski mountaineering, moving to Jackson in 2012. She has been an instructor and/or guide for numerous companies and ski camps, as well as being a 12-year past member of the San Miguel County Search and Rescue Team (and Advisory Board member), with medical, avalanche, and rescue certifications.

She has skied on all 7 continents, with first descents on 4, including in the Arctic and Antarctic, and adventured in over 60 countries. During her travels, she has climbed and skied big peaks in the Himalaya, Andes, and the Karakorum, and has carved lines on peaks across the globe from Morocco to Bolivia, Greenland, Norway, Argentina, Tibet, Japan, and New Zealand. She has numerous first female descents in Southwest Colorado and has completed many ascents and ski descents of 13ers & 14ers. In 2013, Kim completed 65 different routes in the Tetons, including the first female descent of the notorious Otter Body on the Grand Teton, and, in 2014, she went on to be the first woman to ski-guide the Grand Teton.

A graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall and Brown University, Kim was the captain of the ski team in both high school and, for 2 years, in college and won the Coaches Award at both schools. She also was the captain of the Crew Team at Choate. Kim won the 1976 Leadership Award and an honorable mention for the School Seal Prize at Choate, and she went on to serve as the Co-Chairperson of the Brown University Student Athletic Advisory Board. While at University, she testified in court for Title IX and gained the women’s ski team Varsity Status with the NCAA – division USCSA. Kim rowed crew for 6 years (4 High School, 2 University) and ski raced for 8 years. She was elected for 4 years to the Judicial Committee at Choate and served as Chairperson her senior year.

Kim is a sales associate with COMPASS Real Estate– with a past Brokers Associate License in Telluride, CO. Working in Telluride, CO resort real estate, Kim spent 6 years on the Board of Realtors, including one year as President of the Association.

Kim lives with her husband, Pete Linn (a former long time JHSC Nordic racer), and daughter, Charlie (former nordic, current alpine), and their three dogs, Goose, Medina and Sparrow (former JHSP avalanche dogs), on the Linn Ranch in Wilson, WY.  In the summer, her family runs their Outfitting business – www.pendergraftoutfitters.com.
