  1. Intro:

Happy Summer!

I hope all is well and you’re enjoying time in the sun. This spring, myself and the coaching staff have taken a deep dive into our day-to-day programming, searching for ways to tweak and refine what we do in order to best serve our athletes.

With feedback from athletes, coaches, parents, and peer-programs around the country, we’ve completed a program redesign in order to best serve our Freeride community.

When looking at our new programming names and options, know that 90% of what we do is unchanged. The 10% that is changing is designed to provide better outcomes for athletes and families.

Tuition:

Changes in tuition reflect a 5% increase in hourly programming rate as well as changes in programming hours. This allows us to pay a living wage to coaches and retain key staff. Our tuition remains in the mid-price range when compared to peer organizations around the country.

Scholarships:

JHSC remains deeply committed to keeping our programs accessible. ~20% of student athletes receive need-based scholarships each year. The scholarship process considers many factors including:

  • Household size
  • AGI
  • Home ownership status
  • Assets
  • # of children participating in JHSC programs
  • Cost of programming

Families who need financial assistance are strongly encouraged to apply. Our goal remains unchanged: to provide opportunities for local youth to participate in skiing and snowboarding regardless of financial circumstance.

Scholarship info available HERE.

If you have any questions about programming, please don’t hesitate to reach out (collin@jhskiclub.org).

Best- Collin

3) Mt. Hood Camp

JHSC Freeride @ Mt. Hood Summer, 2024

While you’re reading this, I’m out at Mt. Hood with athletes Sam, James, and Noah for a week of summer shred on the volcano.

The Freestyle Training Center at Timberline is the premiere training facility in North America from June - August, plus Mt. Hood is just plain fun! JHSC Freeride has been attending Mt. Hood every summer since 2022 and it’s consistently one of the best trips of the year!

If you missed out this year, never fear, we’re already planning on returning in July, 2027!

4) Andes Freeride Camp

At the end of the month, 8 Freeride athletes and 2 coaches will be travelling to the other side of the world for 2 weeks of skiing in the Chilean Andes!

We’re excited to run this incredible international training trip with a great group of athletes. I can’t wait to share more upon our return.

That’s all for now, don’t forget to register for winter programs!
