BACKCOUNTRY SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Niamh Keating
Three years in the JHSC Backcountry Program ... and Niamh didn’t just learn the mountain, she led on it with her team and in raising the next generation of backcountry skiers. Whether skinning up Mt. Albright or coaching the next generation of Mini Mountaineers, Niamh brought passion, precision, and pure grit to every adventure.
Favorite Memory: Ski touring Mt. Albright in Spring ’23; one of those perfect days you never forget.
Next Mission: Heading to West Point to play D1 Women’s Rugby and serve as an NCAA athlete and future U.S. Army officer! West Point is lucky to gain an athlete, leader, and teammate with Niamh’s strength of character and heart.
Dream Role: Ski patrolling at USMA’s on-base mountain. She’s making it happen with the skills and expertise she has already acquired along with her readiness to keep learning!
Lessons Learned: Avalanche safety, topography, and above all—grit. "The most important thing a person can ever learn."
Niamh: you embody perseverance, endurance, and leadership. We’re proud to have been part of your journey!
