Next Generation Skiers
The NGS program is designed to be a skiers first experience with the JHSC, and an introduction to skiing in a group with a coach. NGS provides a foundation for the introduction of basic skiing skills, mountain etiquette and safety, and fundamentals. Coaches will stress the importance of having fun while learning new skills through skiing, play, games, and mountain exploration. Free skiing will be emphasized, and basic elements of racing will be introduced.
Participants must be able to ski at an intermediate level, put on their own ski equipment, and load and ride the lift alone. Participants seven years old and up must be able to ski in a parallel stance. Six year old participants must be able to stop on their own and have two previous seasons on snow. Participants are welcome and encouraged to race in Club Series races that do not conflict with their program dates. Athletes are arranged in groups based on skill, speed, and social needs.
We warmly welcome the NEXT GENERATION of SKIERS!
Skill Development Focus
Emphasis on all-around skiing fundamentals, technique, and mountain safety. Athletes must arrive in the NGS program with the ability to ski intermediate (blue square) terrain.
