Summer 2012 Newsletter

Director's Chair

The beautiful Jackson summer days fly by fast.  At the Jackson Hole Ski & Snowboard Club we are planning for another great season.  Over the past several months we have had many exciting developments.

Changes to the Board
Please join me in welcoming
three new Board members Jim Coleman, Bill Mulligan, and Joohee Muromcew.   These new members bring a diverse skill set to the Board and will help lead our organization’s future successes.  George Putnam will serve as this year's President. He has been a Board Member since 2009 and was an Alpine racer through high school and at Middlebury College.  We would like to thank outgoing President Brandon Spackman and our retiring Board Members Tony Brooks and Peter Selkowitz for their tremendous contributions.

Funding Received
Special thanks to the Jackson Hole Travel and Tourism Board for funding our Triple Crown and Alpine Race Series proposals.  Granted funds will assist in growing the regional popularity of the Triple Crown Race Series which includes the Moose Chase Marathon, Town Downhill and the Pole Pedal Paddle as well as strengthen and further develop our Alpine Race Series.  With this support, we will also hire a professional timer for our 30 days of local, regional and national Alpine events.

New this year, the Federal Communication Commission is mandating all public safety radio users to convert to narrow bandwidth, for this reason all Alpine radios must be replaced by January 1, 2013.  We would like to recognize and thank the TCSD Recreation District for funding twenty of the forty new radios JHSC must purchase in order to run safe training and races.  Additional thanks to the Community Foundation of Jackson Hole for funding $2,500 of our scholarship proposal. Raising additional scholarship funds will be one of our primary fundraising focuses this fall and winter.

Upcoming Events
Old Bill's Fun Run and the Black Tie, Blue Jeans Ski Ball are coming soon. We hope you will join us!

Best wishes,
Carrie
