Alpine Program News 12/27/11
Happy Holidays to everyone! It is finally snowing outside as I write this update... wahoo!
For many of JHSC athletes the season is well underway, and with the start of 2012 NGS next week, every group in the Alpine Program will be up and running.
Check out the website for information and schedules for every Alpine department.
Snow King is skiing great right now due to a strong snow making effort in the early going, which is still underway. It has been a little thin out at the Village so far this year, but it looks like there is finally snow on the way! I know everyone is stoked to ski some fresh snow, but please be careful out there and realize the coverage is still very thin and dangerous.
We have a great coaching staff assembled again this year, and are looking forward to the season of skiing and racing ahead. You can check-out the complete coaching staff on the website, we are in the process of getting all the new bios on there. Although most of the staff is returning we do have a few new coaches joining the Club this year, including our new NGS Coordinator Jesse Howe.

As usual we have our share (and then some) of events coming up for 2012, starting with the Club Series opener this Saturday at Snow King, and then a 4 day FIS Tech race the following week at Snow King. The Pica's Margarita Cup will be getting underway on January 14th, for another season of team competition open to all. Alpine skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders alike will compete in on Friday nights at Snow King in January, February, and March for prizes and prestige. Please check out the JHSC website and click on the Margarita Cup link for more info. We will also have the Wes Barron Speed Series January 14-16 at JHMR, and the Sean Nurse Memorial the following weekend at Snow King... phew!
Please check out our full calendar of events on the web. As always the JHSC relies on ski club parents and volunteers from the community for volunteers and help with our local events. Please help us out by volunteering when you are able. Our Race Administrator and Volunteer Coordinator, Katie Sacca, can be reached by email: racesecretary@jhskiclub.org

Thanks for all the help at the Ski Swap this year, and thanks in advance for all the help at our upcoming events!
We have already had some very impressive results posted by JHSC athletes this season! Bronson Wright scored a couple of stellar FIS Super G wins in Colorado earlier this month that will left him among the top ranked Junior Super G skiers in the country. Younger sister Bella Wright also had some impressive results in Park City at the opening USSA races series there. There were several more noteworthy accomplishments in early races, results can be checked out on the Intermountain Division and FIS websites.
Eric Hays night Slalom, Dec. 16th 2011, Park City... pretty cool!

We will have essentially all our Alpine athletes training at Snow King and JHMR over the rest of the Holiday season, come check it out!
See you on the slopes!
